Scott Kurt picked up his first guitar at the age of 13, igniting his passion for creating music. Driven by the challenge of writing a great song, Scott is a storyteller at heart, infusing inspiration from his own life and experiences into his lyrics and melodies.

In 2008, Scott formed the Arlington, Virginia-based band Memphis 59 and currently balances his time between playing solo and fronting full band shows. Memphis 59 completed their first studio album, Ragged But Right, in 2009, enlisting a trio of Grammy winners to produce, engineer and play on the record.

Influenced by Tom Petty, Paul Westerberg and Bruce Springsteen, Scott describes his sound as alt-country with a dash of American roots rock. His musical philosophy can be summed up in just seven words - "Play the song like you mean it."

For Scott, meaning goes beyond musical resonance. He sees music as a vehicle to serve his community and contribute to charitable causes. Memphis 59 donates a portion of album sales to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and in 2009, the band headlined the inaugural Pink Jams! concert to benefit breast cancer research and awareness.
